Audley End House and Gardens, Saffron Walden
Originally a Benedictine monastery, the house is a splendid example of Jacobean opulence. Full servants’quarters include the Victorian kitchen, scullery, dairy, laundry and separate larders. The walled vegetable garden is entirely organic and meticulously maintained.
SOUTH YORKSHIRE
Brodsworth Hall and Gardens. Doncaster
The kitchens and gardens at Brodsworth are really special and have been left virtually untouched since it was a family home. The Victorian kitchen houses original domestic articles, while the gardens have been modelled as designs in miniature’.

Castle Fraser Garden & Estate, Inverurie, near Aberdeen
This baronial tower house dates back to the 15th century. The house and kitchen reflects life from the medieval to the Victorian age. The walled garden includes fruit, veg and medicinal plantings.
LONDONLONDON
Sutton House, Hackney
Built as a rural retreat in 1535, Sutton House is now a historical gem in the midst of urban East London. There are regular cooking demonstrations in the original Tudor kitchen, and some wonderful panelled interiors to explore.

Powderham Casde, built in 1391, has been home to generations of the same family to this day. Therea splendid Victorian kitchen, where courses for children are run. Therealso a walled garden, with Victorian glasshouses, which has been restored by TV gardener Toby Buckland.

Wordsworth House and Garden, Cockermouth
Immerse yourself in the home of William Wordsworth, with its working Georgian kitchen complete with costumed servants. The garden is packed with vegetables, herbs and fruit varieties from the 1770s.
RUTLAND
Barnsdale Gardens, Exton, Oakham
Learn how to plant a stunning edible garden among the beautifully designed grounds at Barnsdale Gardens. There are sections to suit all tastes and moods, but donmiss the Parterre garden or allotment which was home to BBC Gardeners’World for many years.
