Torquay in Devon has a lot to see and do for tourists and holiday makers throughout the year. There is a great deal to see for the whole family, but the cost of these things can soon add up. So like many people you may be wondering what is there to do in Torquay for free.

Torquay is full of wonderful landscapes, so a walk exploring the area has to be on the cards. Babbacombe and Torre Abbey offer two great destinations that present you with stunning views and a little bit of exercise. The area of Babbacombe offers a nice walk along the downs overlooking the sea and you can venture down through the woods towards the beach for a walk that is a little more challenging.

Torre Abbey is a great place for a flat walk along the beach. You can go either of two ways. Towards Paignton Town and do a bit of window shopping, or the other way will take you along the sea front towards Babbacombe for a lengthy but free walk. Both of these are ideal on a sunny day and if you did want to spend some money you could always get yourself an ice cream!

Of course Torquay is known for its choices of beaches, so why not head down to one of them? Babbacombe beach, Torre Abbey beach, Meadfoot beach and Oddicombe beach are just a few of the beaches that Torquay has to offer. Each one has something different but they are all completely free to enjoy. You can always go down to the beach and watch the sunset, which is a great way to spend some quality time together with a loved one. Torre Abbey is a great beach for sunbathing and building sand castles so if you have a family this is the beach to head down to.

People watching, is also another great way to soak in the atmosphere. There is plenty of opportunity to sit and watch other people undertake small tasks while on holiday. Torquay provides you with some great places to just sit and watch others, something that many people just find fascinating. Torre Abbey is also great for this as there is a large green grass area which many people enjoy in the height of the summer.

Torquay harbour is also another great location for people looking to embrace the Torquay sunshine and relax on the grass. There is also a small selection of shops in the Pavilion so be sure pop in there and have a bit of a browse if the sun gets too hot.
